Sheikh Mohammed approves designs for new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport

The Dubai Ruler gave the green light to the blueprints for the forthcoming passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport this past Sunday. Over the next decade, all operations at Dubai International Airport will undergo a gradual shift to the new facility.

Aligned with Dubai Aviation Corporation’s strategic vision, construction on the terminal is set to kick off promptly, carrying an estimated price tag of Dh128 billion. Encompassing a sprawling area of 70 square kilometers, the airport will boast a whopping 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways.
Upon its completion, the new hub will dwarf the current Dubai International Airport (DXB) by a factor of five. Moreover, it will pioneer cutting-edge technologies hitherto unseen in the aviation realm.
Taking to the social media platform X to unveil the news, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, declared, "Al Maktoum International Airport is poised to become the world's largest, with a projected capacity of up to 260 million passengers."
In his online proclamation, the Dubai Ruler penned, "We are gearing up for a transformative era in global aviation. We are gearing up for a phase where Dubai spearheads the international aviation scene for the next four decades."

An entire aerotropolis is in the works in Dubai South, set to escalate demand for housing catering to a populace of one million. This prime locale will accommodate the crème de la crème of companies in the logistics and air transport sectors worldwide.
Sheikh Mohammed articulated, "We are constructing a legacy for future generations, ensuring sustained and robust progress for our progeny, so that Dubai emerges as the preeminent hub for aviation, maritime trade, urban sophistication, and cultural innovation on the global stage."
