Dubai Financial Market records over 57,000 new investors in 2023

Dubai's Financial Market had a big year in 2023. New data shows that brokerage firms at the Dubai Financial Market (DFM) opened 57,054 new investor accounts, a significant increase of 12.5 percent from the previous year. This growth was driven by various factors, including the strong market momentum after the announcement of government and semi-government company listings, and the rising popularity of online trading.

The growth was consistent throughout the year, with December standing out with a huge 184 percent increase in new accounts compared to the previous year. This boost was influenced by increased investor interest in the initial public offering (IPO) of the Dubai Taxi Corporation. The increase in new investor accounts not only strengthens the DFM but also brings the potential for more trading and liquidity, indicating positive prospects for the market.

At the same time, the 29 brokerage firms in the DFM handled over 3.83 million transactions in 2023, a significant 32.7 percent increase compared to the 2.88 million transactions in 2022. This active engagement shows that Dubai's Financial Market is vibrant and growing, suggesting a promising future for financial activities in the region.
