Aldar partners with Siemens to make Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Grove a global example of smart urban living.

Aldar will use Siemens' Xcelerator portfolio and Building X platform to set up the UAE's first cloud-based smart district management system at the project.

Aldar Properties (Aldar) has enlisted Siemens to transform Saadiyat Grove, an integrated mixed-use project in development in Abu Dhabi, into a leading global model of intelligent urban living.

The collaboration was formalized through an agreement signed on Thursday at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi.

Employing Siemens’ Xcelerator portfolio and its cloud-based Building X platform, Aldar is set to implement the UAE’s pioneering cloud-based smart district management system throughout the entirety of the Saadiyat Grove community.

The system will integrate advanced energy analytics to facilitate emission reductions in accordance with Aldar’s Net Zero Plan.

IoT sensors installed within the project will oversee air quality and noise levels, while AI technologies will enhance safety and security measures, as well as enable predictive maintenance.

Moreover, the platform will oversee asset lifecycles and incorporate digital twins of the district to optimize operational efficiencies.

This pragmatic application of an AI-powered analytical system will streamline asset management, ensuring superior living standards for residents and optimal performance for commercial tenants at Saadiyat Grove.

Jonathan Emery, CEO at Aldar Development, highlighted that introducing the UAE’s first cloud-based district management solution at Saadiyat Grove represents a significant leap forward in applying digital technology at scale within the real estate sector.

“Our partnership with Siemens is a part of Aldar’s continuous commitment to revolutionizing lives and environments for positive outcomes, leveraging innovation to introduce sustainable living solutions that result in meaningful emission reductions,” he stated.

Emery emphasized that implementing this advanced smart district management system at Saadiyat Grove will set a benchmark for smart living in Abu Dhabi, with plans to extend its usage across Saadiyat Cultural District and beyond.

Helmut von Struve, CEO of Siemens in the Middle East and the UAE, noted, “By leveraging the latest offerings from Siemens Xcelerator, our open digital business platform facilitating rapid and extensive digital transformation, Aldar will efficiently manage its portfolio and offer residents and visitors of the district a more comfortable and secure environment to live and work.”

Located in Abu Dhabi’s Cultural District, Saadiyat Grove comprises a business park covering approximately 26,000 sqm of net leasable area (NLA), featuring four Grade A commercial office buildings.

Furthermore, the retail segment of Saadiyat Grove will encompass 78,000 sqm of NLA, comprising community retail spaces, two retail boulevards, and a central shopping destination.
